The Mercedes-Benz SLK230 Kompressor was a variant of the R170 SLK-Class that debuted for the 1997 model year. The SLK 230 Kompressor was fitted with Mercedes' M111.973 engine, which was a 2.3L supercharged inline four. This engine produced 190hp until 2001, when Mercedes introduced their upgraded M111.975 unit, which boosted power to 195hp.

I was looking at SLK's for my girlfriend, and I wanted to get the 230 so as to take advantage of the MPG. I've heard stories as high as 32 or 33 MPG. But, a few folks have discouraged me from looking at these.
